A yellow Labrador Retriever is a Labrador with a coat anywhere from pale cream to fox red, not a separate breed. The color comes from a recessive gene, so two black parents can still have yellow puppies. Labs descend from Newfoundland water dogs and were developed in Britain as gun dogs, which explains the dense double coat, otter tail and love of carrying things.
In West Palm Beach, that retriever heritage means a dog that wants exercise, company and something to do. Most are friendly and food-motivated, which makes training easier and weight gain easier too, so measure meals. Expect shedding all year in this warm climate, and know that a pale nose can burn in strong Florida sun. Dogs vary, so a Lab's own personality matters more than the label.
