The Aussiedoodle is a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, so size and looks vary widely. Toy and mini dogs can be under 30 pounds, while standards reach about 70. Coats are usually wavy or curly, and colors run from solid black or chocolate to merle and tricolor. One dog may take after the Aussie and another after the Poodle, in coat and in temperament.
Both parents are sharp, active working dogs, and many Aussiedoodles share that drive. They tend to be affectionate and eager to learn, but without daily exercise and mental work they may turn restless, vocal or clingy. Plan for regular brushing and a professional trim about every six to eight weeks to keep the coat free of mats.
