Applehead Siamese is the popular name for the traditional, old-style Siamese: a sturdier, rounder-headed cat than the long, wedge-headed Siamese seen in show rings. The look traces back to the cats that first reached the West from Thailand in the late nineteenth century. Some registries recognize the type separately as the Thai, though many cats called appleheads are simply pointed cats of Siamese ancestry, so looks and personality can vary.
Expect a pale body, darker points on the face, ears, legs and tail, and vivid blue eyes. Many are talkative, playful and clever, and they often follow their people from room to room. Most dislike long stretches alone, which is worth weighing against your work schedule. The short coat is easy to maintain, and pointed cats like this turn up fairly often in shelters.
