Phone interviews do not take place til after an approved application is on file and we have a possible match for your home My name is Stella. I am 3 years old and weigh 20 pounds. I need a new home because I wasn't getting along with the other dogs in the home, and with the toddler. I am being fostered in Ft Collins, CO I love people, food, toys, and going on adventures I have strong opinions about things in general, but particularly for things that I think are mine. I get along with most other dogs, but I don't always read their signals well when they do not want to play with me. I would rather not share my home with a young child. I need my own space when I eat my meals if there are other dogs in the home. My dream home would be with somebody who is interested in continuing my training, I am very food motivated and eager to learn. I have a very good sniffer, and would do great in a sport like nose work. I would really like any kind of fun enrichment activity that gets me exercise and works my brain. Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? I do best when on a structured routine. I don't always give clear signals of when I need to go out Leash-trained? I do great on a leash and love to go on walks and hikes! Rides well in car? I do great in the car and love to go on adventures. Good with other dogs? I need guidance if there are other dogs in my home. I don't always take no for an answer when I want to play. I can also be food possessive. Good with cats? No Good with young children? I would prefer a home without a small child. Good with strangers? Yes Shy or confident? confident Barks? I usually only bark to tell other dogs to stay away from my stuff. Apartment qualified? I would do well in an apartment as long as my human took me on adventures and did fun things with me. Any Special needs or Health Issues? All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Other medical needs diagnosed while in foster care are also treated prior to adoption. MABTR requires a fenced in area from families who own their home, however we DO adopt to apartment complexes and communities where fences are not permitted due to leases and covenants. In these cases a leash law must be enforced. We do not accept invisible fencing. MABTR only adopts to families residing in NE, CO, MO, KS, IA, WY, SD, ND, ID, UT, MT, MN, and NW AR due to the lack of volunteer support in other states, no exception even if you are willing to drive.
