About NOVA

MEDICAL EMERGENCY! CODE RED/SOON TO BE EUTH LISTED FOR MEDICAL- Riverside County Shelter, Jurupa Valley location, So Cal – ID #A1940174 “NOVA”- an INJURED, 30 lb, 6 YR YOUNG little CHOW GIRL FOUND W BROKEN PELVIS! ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE BUT HEARTBREAKING AND NOW AT GREAT RISK IN HIGH KILL SHELTER, – already listed as "needs Rescue" meaning she will likely be added to the 72 he red/euth list soon, when she comes off her stray hold on 10/7 at noon NEED ADOPTER OR FOSTER AND RESCUE TO SAVE HER LIFE! HELP!!! NOVA WAS TAKEN INTO THE SHELTER 10/2 injured but no owner has sadly come forward. She can be adopted but is available for rescue pull at noon on 10/7 too, and is expected to go onto the euth list shortly after this due to her medical situation. WE ARE LOOKING FOR EITHER A CHOW OR OR DOG SAVVY HOME, OR A FOSTER AND RESCUE FOR HER where she can rest while her pelvis heals. No further major medical may be needed, as the pelvis may be able to heal on her own, but a rescue group may also assist with further medical if needed - with a committed foster, or foster to adopt. However, she has not been eating either, it’s unclear if it’s the meds or why. Nova is listed as a 6 year young female chow mix, and weighs only 30 lbs so she is tiny. Medical Notes: ************************** 10/02/26 13:03 P was standing up with right hind limb up, reluctant to walk RAD) iliac fracture : right iliac fracture both femoral heads are in acetabulum bilaterally the entire hip seems a bit twisted but this could be due to angle Rx) gabapentin 300mg : 1 cap(high dose) PO BID for 14 days simbadol IM : 0.3ml IM BID for 5 days (ok to extend as needed) PLAN) continue with the supportive care and pain control contact rescue (the fractured ilium is not weight bearing area so prognosis for mobility is fair to guarded but proper orthopedic procedure may be beneficial for the best outcome) *********************** 10/03/26 14:33 Consider setting deadline if P doesn't eat at all until monday, or stops urinating at all continue with pain control and supportive care *********************** 10/03/26 07:52 Pt appears to not have eaten pm food, drinking well, stool and urine observed, normal *********************** The shelter also provided radiographs which can be provided upon request. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting Nova, or can foster locally through the shelter, please contact the shelter immediately by calling (951) 358-7387 and reference her applicable ID and also use her listing link to express interest (but this will not place a hold).
