Handsome, sweet, and ready for a fresh start. At 4.5 years old, Jax lost his home this summer due to a change in his family’s living arrangements. He had lived with young children, a cat, and another dog, but through no fault of his own, Jax suddenly found himself starting over. We suspect he misses his family and the comfort of having a place to call home. Since coming to us, Jax has been staying at doggy daycare, where he's been getting some training and supervised time around other dogs. He's done well with several dogs, but a large, busy group can be overwhelming, especially when other dogs crowd his space. He tends to move away when he needs a break, so we think he'd appreciate a calmer home. A laid-back canine companion could be a possibility with thoughtful introductions, or he could enjoy being your one and only. The good news is that Jax already has some good manners in place! He knows sit and stay, does well with recall, and walks nicely on leash, although exciting distractions can get him pulling a bit. He responds well to direction and wants to please. He's also curious about new people and will approach to say hello, though he likes to take his time deciding who gets to pet him. Jax is adjusting to a lot of change, and we think he'd really benefit from a home where he can decompress, get comfortable, and settle into a routine. He's a smart, responsive boy who's ready to keep learning and bond with someone who gives him the time he needs. Jax didn't choose to lose his home. Let's help him find a new one where he can finally relax and be someone's good boy again.
