About Sadie

Sadie we have saved from Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter in Lufkin , TX. She is a sweet wonderful very loving older puppy (not super young pup) who has a slight neurological disorder. Hence, we wouldn't place her with a very high energy other dog, but she does GREAT with other dogs. Maybe possibly best without young children? That one it really depends on the parents AND the children! shaynesrescue.com is where to apply to adopt Any questions, just ask us shaynesrescue@gmail.com She has a mild case of this. Nothing to do. just saying FYI here is a dog with a similar brain disorder and see how well he is doing. https://www.facebook.com/reel/639599984397782 Cerebellar hypoplasia in dogs is a non-progressive neurological condition where the cerebellum—the part of the brain responsible for balance, posture, and coordination—fails to fully develop before birth or shortly after. [1] Key Symptoms • Wobbly gait: Uncoordinated walking or ataxia, often looking like stiff "toy soldier" steps. • Intention tremors: Shaking or head-bobbing that gets worse when the dog tries to focus on or reach an object. • Wide-based stance: Standing or sitting with legs spread far apart to keep from falling over. • Eye flicking: Rhythmic, involuntary eye movements called nystagmus. • Normal cognition: The condition does not cause pain or affect intelligence, personality, or lifespan. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] Management and Care • No cure: Because it is a developmental brain structure issue rather than an active disease, there is no medical cure, though symptoms do not worsen over time. • Home safety: Use non-slip rugs, block off staircases with baby gates, and add soft bumper guards to sharp furniture edges. • Eating aids: Feed from raised, wide-heavy bowls to prevent tipping and make it easier for a wobbly head to reach food. • Mobility support: Use supportive belly harnesses, slings, or custom-fitted dog wheelchairs if balance is severely impaired.
