About Basil
Basil is a 5-year-old shepherd/hound mix who is ready for a fresh start. He was originally adopted from a Washington shelter but returned due to no fault of his own—his family’s changing circumstances forced him to spend most of his days crated, despite his people-pleasing, affectionate nature. Basil craves attention and regular connection. He warms up quickly to people and, after proper introductions, does well with other dogs. He’s also lived with a cat and did great. Currently, Basil is both crate and house-trained. He loves car rides and gets excited on walks, though he’ll benefit from some gentle leash training as he still pulls now and then, especially if something catches his eye. Basil knows sit, down, and “crate,” and responds well to treats and encouragement. His foster notes that Basil is sweet, sociable, and playful—ready to become someone’s loyal companion, whether as an only dog or with a calm canine sibling. He needs a home with time for activity and patience to help him adjust after a tough year. He’s in Bothell, WA and ready for his next adventure. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
