About Mercedes
Meet Mercedes! You may have heard of a junk yard dog, but what about a junk yard cat? That's where Mercedes came from. Rescued by our Field Services Team as part of our Trap/Neuter/Return program, she showed signs of being social and is now on the pathway to adoption. Transitioning cats like Mercedes into a home takes patience. Community Cats often require a slow acclimation period: about a month to decompress, six months to settle in, and sometimes up to a year before they truly feel at home. This varies from cat to cat. As you welcome Mercedes into your home, expect some hiding. Itโs best to keep her confined to a safe space like a guest room or bathroom where she can feel secure but also learn about her surroundings. We can provide a loaner crate to help. Remember, it might take time for her to adjust; being indoors can be daunting after life outside. Bonding can be facilitated with food, especially stinky wet food or Churu treats. Using a back scratcher while feeding her can help her associate positive experiences with petting. Mercedes is already spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations. If youโre interested in adopting or have more questions about her or any of our other animals, stop by the Animal Rescue League of Boston in Dedham. We welcome adopters from New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York. Please note, same-day adoptions arenโt possible due to state paperwork requirements. What are you waiting for?
