About Smudge

Smudge takes his role as the resident comedian very seriously. He has a personality that matches his goofy antics! Whether he's amusing everyone with his silly zoomies or squeezing into spaces only the smallest dogs should be able to fit, Smudge brings joy wherever he goes. When he first arrived, Smudge had a previously fractured leg that is still healing. This gives his front left leg a slight bend, but that doesn't hold him back. He’s always eager for pool time, long walks, or playtime—his absolute favorite! As his leg continues to heal, he hasn't joined our dog playgroups yet, but he shows plenty of interest in canines and enjoys greeting them through the kennel gates. For potential canine siblings, a meet and greet would be necessary. Smudge is also working on his leash manners and can get a bit excited by scents, but he takes gentle corrections well and is improving daily. Currently, Smudge is heartworm positive, and the Humane Society is dedicated to starting his treatment soon. The shelter is not the ideal place for this since dogs need a calm environment to recover. They will cover all treatment costs and support his new family throughout the process. All he needs is someone ready to foster or foster-to-adopt. Smudge is looking for his second chance at a cozy life filled with snacks, playtime, and the love of people who enjoy a little extra silliness. If your family could use a four-legged class clown, Smudge is ready to join you! What are you waiting for? Apply today!
