About Barney
Barney loves exploring the outdoors, with his nose often touching the ground before his paws. This three-year-old male hound mix, likely a beagle and Plott hound, is about 35 pounds and boasts a brindle face featuring a distinctive white blaze, long ears, and a striking dark saddle on his back. He's slim and energetic, built for adventures that satisfy his curious spirit. Rescued as a stray by Petersburg Animal Care and Control, Barney is a sweet and easygoing dog. Once he's done sniffing every corner, he leans into you for pets, eagerly waiting for your next move. Treats work wonders on him, making training a breeze. Barney thrives with other dogs and appears fine around cats, making a home with a friendly furry sibling a great fit. He's perfect for a family that enjoys long walks, though expect to stop frequently for his curious investigations. There's just one thing to consider: we haven't had the chance to see how he interacts with children. Youโre welcome to set up a meet-and-greet to test compatibility with your resident pets. Petersburg Animal Care & Control holds appointments for visits, ensuring someone is on hand to assist. We're open Monday through Friday, from 12pm to 4pm, with possible off-hour meet-ups based on volunteer availability. Donโt miss the chance to meet Barney!
