Lyla is a 2-year-old large female Boxer mix located in Ferndale, MI. She has a lovely yellow and tan coat. Vaccinations are up to date, and she is looking for an adult-only home with no other pets. Lyla is patiently waiting for a kind adopter who understands her need for time and gentle reassurance.

About Lyla

Lyla is on a journey to find someone who understands that love takes time. Found alone in Detroit's Rouge Park after being dumped, she was understandably frightened and hesitant to trust. After hours of patient effort from our volunteer, Lyla began to feel safe enough to accept help, and she is now in the caring hands of Happy Paws Haven. This sweet Boxer mix needs a quiet, adult-only home, free from the chaos of children and other pets. She hasn’t had much good exposure to dogs and tends to chase cats, so an only-pet environment is essential. A securely fenced yard is necessary so she can feel secure and explore at her own pace. Lyla requires an adopter experienced with fearful dogs who can allow her to warm up slowly. It’s important to respect her space and never force interactions. Expect initial meetings to be gentle, possibly consisting of just sharing the same space until she feels comfortable. Meet-and-greets can start after November 16, 2026, and you may need to visit multiple times as she adapts. If you recognize the value in each small step she takes toward trust, Lyla could become a loyal companion. If you have the patience and understanding she needs, please fill out an adoption application to learn more about bringing her home. Your journey with Lyla could be the meaningful connection she deserves.
