Dappy (aka “Cowboy”) Meet Dappy, a sweet, curious, spunky, and self-assured seven-year-old Dachshund who weighs fifteen pounds! He’s the cutest little cowboy, with a whole lot of confidence packed into a small body and one ear that often crinkles up adorably. Dappy adapts quickly to new places, isn’t bothered by city sounds, and lights up the second you mention a walk. He’s a curious explorer who sniffs every door and inspects strangers’ shoes as they pass. He’s potty trained and lets you know when he needs to go by sitting by the front door. He walks pretty well on a leash, though his nose loves to zigzag toward every interesting smell. He’s very food motivated, which makes training easy. At home, he loves tug-of-war, burrowing under blankets, and watching the kitchen from his couch throne. He likes to decide when it’s cuddle time (spoiler: it’s often!), and once he trusts you, he’s an affectionate, funny, loyal companion. He’s also learning to use doggy stairs to protect his Dachshund back. Dappy would do best in an active to moderate, adult-only home with a patient adopter who loves the Dachshund spirit and lets him approach on his own terms. He’d do well as an only dog or with a mellow, smaller dog, and he’s a great fit for apartment living.
