About Onyx

Meet Onyx! Onyx may not wear his heart on his sleeve, but the love he has to offer runs deep. This senior Black Labrador Retriever has a history shrouded in mystery, teaching him to approach life with caution. He seeks a family that understands building trust takes time, patience, and love. When meeting new faces or furry friends, Onyx prefers to observe at his own pace. With slow, thoughtful introductions, he opens up and reveals a loyal companion eager to stand by your side. Ideally, he would thrive as the only dog in the house, soaking up all the attention, but if there’s another canine companion, he does well with gradual introductions. Because he’s still gaining confidence, a home with children over eight would suit him best. Onyx enjoys his daily walks and know many commands including sit, shake, and stay. He patiently waits for his meals and takes treats gently. When relaxing, you can find him happily chewing on a bone or discovering new toys. Watching him learn the joy of simply being a dog has been a rewarding experience for his foster family. Onyx doesn’t need rescuing; he needs someone who believes in him. Someone who can cherish the little victories and be part of his journey towards trust. If you’re ready to invest the time and love, this amazing dog is waiting for the family who will show him what forever truly feels like. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
