About Sorrow

On September 25th, KCAC received a dog that was picked up by the Kendall County Sheriff's Office after she was found as a stray in unincorporated Kendall County. Due to her very sad condition at intake, we decided to name her "Sorrow". Sorrow's story was a sad one, but we hope that soon she has her very own happily ever after and a forever home of her own. When Sorrow arrived, we noticed immediately she was having trouble walking -- what first appeared to be a large mass turned out to be a massive hernia from an abdominal wall failure. Upon further inspection, we could see multiple scars indicative of c-section procedures in the past. She had a skin infection, and struggled to breathe through her nose. Sorrow was never reclaimed during her stray hold, and so we were able to have her scheduled for evaluation and surgical correction of her ailments in preparation for adoption. What we found during her surgery was extremely sad and worse than expected -- Sorrow was suffering from many large cysts, her uterus was adhered to her abdominal wall, and she had many prior c-section procedures. During her procedure, she was spayed, had her large hernia corrected, her stenotic nares were corrected so she can breathe more normally, and had a mass removed which turned out to be a Mast-Cell Tumor. (Photos during her procedures and her nares before correction after our *graphic* warning in the post). Luckily for Sorrow, she has recovered well from her surgery and her MCT is low grade -- meaning that she has a good prognosis and is ready to find her forever home. Sorrow is friendly with dogs, cats, and people. She appears housetrained and is happiest when she is allowed to go her own speed. She has her energetic moments, but is really content to relax and snuggle with her people. We estimate her age at 6 years old but we aren't entirely sure -- she may be older, or younger. As always, it is hard without any history. Her adoption fee is just $150 and she has now had all vetting mentioned above, is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative and current on preventatives. If interested in adopting, please call or email 630-433-8528 or animalcontrol@kendallcountyil.gov with questions, or stop by the shelter to meet her. As always, we cannot say YES to these lifesaving procedures without assistance from our wonderful donors. Every dollar counts, and we are proud to be able to seek treatment for the animals in our care because of the amazing generosity of donors in our community and beyond. If you are interested in donating to our animals medical care, you can do so in person at the shelter at 802 W John St. Yorkville, IL, or at the following link: https://www.kendallcountyil.gov/.../animal-control/donations A HUGE THANK YOU to Dr. Hall and CVT Samantha at Oswego Animal Hospital for overseeing this case, and providing this sweet girl with quality care and treatment to prepare her to live her absolute best life moving forward
