Meet Ellie! Don't let the name fool you; this beautiful Boston Terrier is all girl, with approximately 12 pounds of personality, mischief, and absolutely no concept of personal space. She wears the typical Boston tuxedo with little sprinkles of brindle for some pizzazz. Ellie is a toy enthusiast (some might say fanatic), professional shadow, and part-time adventurer. She loves going on hikes, splashing around in the lake, and zooming around with other dogs who can match her puppy energy. When she's finally worn herself out, you'll find her sleeping in positions that defy gravity, snoring like a grown woman, or curled up enjoying the warmth of her favorite heating pad. She's even a good sport about bath time! Ellie adores her people and would happily follow them from room to room all day. She's affectionate, curious, endlessly entertaining, and firmly believes there's no such thing as being too close to her humans. Her ideal home would have someone around frequently throughout the day to accommodate her special care needs, and she'd love a younger, playful canine companion to share her adventures. Ellie may need a little extra care, but she has a whole lot of love, laughter, and ridiculous Boston Terrier charm to give. The Basics Age: Approximately 7 months Weight: 12 lbs Spayed/Neutered: Yes (female) Microchipped: No. We have the chip, but it has not been inserted. Vaccines Up-to-Date: Yes On Heartworm Prevention: Yes On Flea/Tick Prevention: Yes House-Trained: Working on it! Ellie goes potty outside and will wait by the door when she needs to go. She has also been doing well using pee pads when left indoors. Due to her medical history, she may pass small amounts of stool without realizing it and will need continued patience, supervision, and a consistent potty routine. Crate-Trained: Yes, although extended crating is not recommended due to her medical needs. Leash Skills: Needs work. She thinks her leash is a toy. Medical: Ellie was born with a congenital anorectal abnormality and underwent surgery as a young puppy. She can and does have normal bowel movements outside. However, because of her unique anatomy, small amounts of stool may remain at the opening or occasionally pass without her realizing it. This is generally easier to manage when her stools are firm. Softer stools can make leakage more frequent, so finding a diet that helps maintain firm, consistent stools may help reduce these episodes. Ellie is otherwise a happy, active puppy. She requires regular cleaning and monitoring to stay comfortable, making a home with someone available frequently throughout the day especially important. Her long-term bowel control is uncertain, and her foster family is happy to discuss her medical history and daily care with prospective adopters. Likes/Dislikes Toys: Obsessed Other Animals: Very interested. Ellie would do better in a home with younger dogs to match her energy. Her playful nature can be overwhelming for senior pups. No experience with cats. People/Kids: Ellie loves people and has never met a stranger. She has been around small children with no issues but has limited experience with them. Car Rides: She does fine on car rides. She has been on several long road trips. Separation: She would much rather be with her people, but she can be left without major anxiety.
