A volunteer writes: Eight year old Maximoff and five year old Tigre are with us as their long time owner moved to a place not allowing pets. The bonded pair seems to have been very much loved and their owner describes them as affectionate and quiet lap cats, gently playful, great company and very smart...Handsome Maximoff is having a tough time at the care center despite being housed in our community room or playroom. He spends most of his time in hiding, resting in an open crib with his beloved Tigre. He accepts extensive petting after some negotiations (sweet talks and some churrus) but likes to stay put. We know, though that what we see is not what Maximoff really was in his home.Tigre is the daring one. As soon as he is summoned, he comes out of his shared box and shows for himself. He is quite a good looking, friendly, playful and outgoing character who is making the best of his new situation. He plays very nicely with catnip toys and feather wands and did not mind me lifting him up to bring him back to his friend Maximoff. Tigre and Maximoff are best friends for life and need to be adopted together. Being once again in a home, side by side would be such a beautiful gift to them and the promise of lots of fun and love to their new owner or family! What my friends at ACC say about me: I am bonded to Maximoff 266365. We must go home together and our adoption fee includes both of us! Tigre is laying in his top cubby, observing the assessor with wide eyes as they approach. He is initially hesitant to engage but with a bit of soft talk he rolls onto his side, head bunting the assessor's hand and leaning into petting on the head and cheeks. He is able to be coaxed to the main area with soft talk and crunchy treats, eating all of them before continuing to head bunt the assessor's hand. He allows all petting, kneading and purring as he is pet. He is able to be picked up but is a bit tense, squirming lightly to be put down when held. When he is placed back into his kennel, he remains at the front, continuing to allow and lean into all further petting and attention and continuing to purr. Tigre interacts with the observer, solicits & appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with either an average amount of cat experience or demonstrate a basic understanding of typical cat behavior.
