About Boots
Meet Boots, a charming shepherd/spitz mix with a stunning gray coat and adorably white-tipped paws. At around 12-18 months and weighing 50 pounds, this handsome boy is still bursting with playful puppy energy. Bootsβ journey began in Houston, TX, where he faced a grim fate on the euthanasia list after just two days as a stray due to shelter overcrowding. Initially terrified and shy, he was lucky to find a second chance. Thanks to patience and love, Boots has started to emerge from his protective shell. Now in St. Paul, Minnesota, Boots is adjusting beautifully to life as a loved house dog. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and reads social cues well, making him thrive in a home with a confident canine companion or as the only pet. While he might be shy around newcomers, his gentle and affectionate personality shines once he trusts you. His foster mom notes he enjoys playful little nibbles, a behavior she's gently redirecting with training. Boots is intelligent and food motivated, eager to learn new things. He already knows how to sit by observing the other dogs in his foster home. As an active young dog, he will benefit from ongoing training, structure, and supervision to help him thrive. He loves walks and playtime, but after an adventure, he also enjoys long, relaxing naps. Heβs previously interacted well with cats and may do well with respectful children given proper supervision. Boots has come so far from being a frightened shelter dog, and now he just needs a patient, loving family to help him continue building his confidence and discovering the joys of life.
