About Ziggy

Meet Ziggy! This adorable little guy found himself on the euthanasia list at a high-kill shelter in Houston, Texas. Thanks to a compassionate volunteer and a loving foster family, he is now safe and thriving. At about 2 years old, Ziggy is a small, 16-pound bundle of joy with a unique scruffy coat and a lively personality. Always up for adventure, he enjoys walks, hikes, and exploring the outdoors. He walks well on a leash, stays close to his person, and is learning commands like 'Let’s go!' Though he finds squirrels exciting, he's learning to focus on his human. When it's time to relax, Ziggy adores attention and is happiest when near people. He's housebroken, kennel trained, well-mannered indoors, and excellent in the car. He gets along wonderfully with kids, playing happily with his foster family’s 10-year-old son. Ziggy is social with other dogs and would do well with a canine companion or as your one-and-only. Initially, he exhibited some humping behavior when overly excited, but progress is evident, and it can be easily redirected. Regular positive reinforcement will help him settle into his forever home. This sweet boy hasn't been tested with cats, so careful introductions would be essential. Ziggy would be a fantastic match for an active family, younger adopters, or active seniors. He needs daily walks, playtime, training, and plenty of affection. A fenced yard would be a bonus! Ziggy is ready to find someone to share adventures with and give all the pets and love his heart can hold. Could that be you? Click apply to start the adoption process.
