About Ziggy

Meet Ziggy! This little guy found his way to a high-kill shelter in Houston, Texas, and was at risk when a volunteer stepped in with adorable photos showcasing his happy spirit. Thanks to a caring foster family, Ziggy now enjoys his second chance at life, and what a special little dog he is! At around 2 years old and weighing about 16 pounds, Ziggy features a scruffy coat and those wonderfully expressive ears. He's got the energy of a big dog in a small package, eager for adventures and outdoor explorations. This sprightly fellow loves to patrol the yard and chase squirrels, so he’s not just looking for cuddles—though he does appreciate a good belly rub once the day's pursuits are over. Ziggy thrives on human companionship and is currently fostered with other dogs. He enjoys their company but is also working on some behaviors, like occasionally humping when overstimulated. Support from a confident canine buddy or a calm environment could really help him thrive. This playful pup is house-trained, kennel-trained, and walks nicely on a leash. He has a mild prey drive, so while he might spot a squirrel, he's generally responsive to commands. Ziggy has been great with children; however, due to his energy, an older kid or more mature family would be ideal. He hasn't had interactions with cats yet, but some careful introductions could go a long way. Overall, Ziggy needs an active home where he can be outdoors and embraced for his spirited personality. He isn't looking for a casual companion; he wants a partner for adventures and fun. Ziggy is currently based in Houston but is ready to find his forever home anywhere in the country.
