Koko is a spayed female Shih Tzu and Cairn Terrier mix. She is a senior, around 10 years old, and weighs approximately 25 pounds. With a long, shaggy coat in an apricot and beige color, Koko enjoys being house trained and is up to date on her vaccinations. Currently, she resides in Rockville, MD, and is looking for a loving family who can provide her with the attention and care she deserves.

Meet Koala, affectionately known as Koko! At 10 years old and 25 pounds, this scruffy sweetheart is ready to find a loving home where she can feel safe and relaxed. Koko, a Shih Tzu mix, came to us after her beloved owner faced medical challenges that made care difficult. After a stressful time in the shelter, she has begun to decompress in her foster home, and it’s heartening to see her settle in. Koko is an affectionate girl who adores snuggling and often prefers to sleep right next to her favorite person. Her long, shaggy coat has a delightful, quirky appearance, adding to her charm. Koko enjoys walks and is getting the hang of playful moments, which we are eager to see grow. As a one-dog household, Koko thrives on undivided attention. While she is good with gentle children, she tends to get jealous about sharing her humans and food. She would be happiest in a calm environment with a family that’s home most of the time. Though Koko can feel anxious when left alone, she is a wonderful companion who genuinely loves spending time with her people. Please note that Koko has a few medical needs. She requires eye drops twice a day for high eye pressure and has a high-grade heart murmur that will need attention as she adapts to her new surroundings. Regular grooming is essential to keep her lovely curls looking great, and she may need a little patience with her potty routine until she settles fully. Koko is a gentle, sweet soul who deserves a peaceful home and all the love she craves.
