About Baxter

Meet Baxter, a stunning Cane Corso puppy with a playful side—his favorite toy is a small red lobster that he tosses in the air. At just 10 months old, Baxter has already faced a lot of change, finding his way to the West Milford Animal Shelter after being passed around. For a guardian breed like him, stability is crucial. Cane Corsos are known for their loyalty and intelligence, often taking their time to warm up to new people and situations. Initially, Baxter may be a bit reserved, but with the right introductions, he quickly bonds with both people and other dogs. He’s shown great rapport with shelter volunteers and has been evaluated positively by trainers at Canine Cooperative. Baxter is looking for someone experienced with guardian breeds, requiring a home that offers structure and consistency. Socialization for him means learning to navigate the world confidently, not necessarily making friends with everyone. A household with older children (12+) would be ideal due to his size and breed traits. This young dog has so much to learn and grow into, and all he needs is the right person to help him blossom.
