About Wallace

Meet Wallace! This goofy, snuggly nine-month-old Jack Russell Terrier/American Pit Bull Terrier mix is currently in Amherst, MA. Her playful spirit shines through her adorable tricolor coat, displaying a mix of brown, black, and white. Weighing around 55 pounds, Wallace is an adventurous girl who enjoys hiking, camping, beach outings, and road trips. Whether splashing in the bay or accompanying her favorite person on errands, she’s always ready for fun. After an exciting day, this affectionate sweetheart turns into a professional cuddle buddy, requesting belly rubs and showing off her full-body wiggles. Wallace is completely deaf, but that hasn’t slowed her down. She’s incredibly smart, food-motivated, and eager to learn. After a two-week positive-reinforcement training program, she now understands several hand signals, including sit, stay, down, come, and drop it. She’s house-trained, crate-trained, and walks nicely on a leash. This social butterfly adores other dogs. Though initially shy, Wallace blossoms into a playful and confident companion with patient introductions. She does experience some separation anxiety and can become anxious when left alone. Having other dogs around has significantly boosted her confidence and comfort, making a home with another playful, well-adjusted dog a wonderful match for her. Wallace needs a quiet, adult-only home with an experienced pet parent committed to continued training. She can experience anxiety around unfamiliar people, particularly men, and may react defensively when startled. Potential adopters should be prepared for careful visitor management and structured introductions to help her feel more secure. Wallace takes Trazodone for anxiety and has experienced occasional urinary leakage during sleep, which has improved. She’s spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her compatibility with cats and children is unassessed currently. With patience, consistency, and understanding, Wallace has so much affection and personality to share. Are you ready to welcome this extraordinary girl into your life?
