Meet Slate, a spirited Australian Cattle Dog and Black Labrador Retriever mix. At just 11 months old and a lean 42 lbs, this affectionate male is neutered and ready for a loving home. Slate's journey began in Mississippi alongside his ten siblings, left abandoned in a box. After traveling to Illinois, he found a great foster family through Rescued Rascals and was adopted in February. Sadly, he was recently returned due to his energy level and breed not matching his family's lifestyle. Fortunately, his original foster family stepped up, welcoming him back while he searches for his forever home. This happy pup enjoys being outside and is always eager to join in on family activities. Slate has spent time with young children and is currently adapting to a calmer resident dog in his foster home. With his youthful energy, he thrives in an active environment where he can participate in walks, hikes, and playtime. He's still refining his house manners, so a family committed to continued positive training will help him mature.
