About Rex

Meet Rex! Rex is a 9-year-old Dachshund looking for his forever home. He’s one of the Florence 10, a group of dogs rescued from a hoarding situation in Alabama. Rex and his friend Spencer are the last two from that group waiting to find their special families, and we hope that someone will give Rex the chance he deserves. Having overcome a medical journey, Rex underwent dental surgery that removed all his teeth, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit. He manages fine with both canned food and kibble. Rex also deals with an autoimmune disorder that requires him to stick to a special prescription diet, so it’s important that his new family is supportive of this ongoing need. Rex is a total snuggle bug who loves cuddling and napping with his humans and other dogs. His current best buddy is a Great Dane, showing that friendship comes in all sizes. A home with at least one other dog is essential for his well-being, as he’s happiest when he has canine companionship. Rex knows how to use a dog door, walks well on a leash, and enjoys car rides. He’s not looking for grand adventures—just a cozy place to nap and humans to share his life with. Rex has come a long way and is now ready to find comfort, stability, and unconditional love in a forever home. Are you the one who can give this sweet senior Dachshund the happy ending he deserves? Rex is currently fostered in Stoughton, MA, and is available for adoption within a three-hour drive in Virginia and North Carolina. Ready to make this sweet boy your own?
