Meet Frankie, a gentle soul who's ready for his second chance. This 2.5-year-old, 70-pound neutered male American Staffordshire Terrier mix is currently in a loving foster home in Austin, Texas, and can transport to his forever home once an approved adopter is found. Frankie's story started under tough circumstances. He and his sister were left behind, tied up and alone. Thankfully, he’s now slowly learning that the world can be a safe and kind place. Initially shy and reserved, Frankie reveals his sweet and affectionate personality when he feels comfortable. He enjoys simply being close to someone he trusts. In his foster home, he lives with four large dogs and is gaining confidence in play. Although sometimes shy, he enjoys time playing tug-of-war and finds joy in shredding cardboard. He is not aggressive; rather, he tends to retreat when unsure, emphasizing the need for a patient owner who will allow him to grow at his own pace. Frankie hasn’t met children or cats yet, but his gentle nature suggests he would thrive in a calm home with older kids who respect his space. He is house-trained, has no accidents, and is currently free to roam a room without issues. On walks, he is still adapting and can be nervous on a leash, so a securely fenced yard will help him feel more secure. During meal times, Frankie is respectful and has shown no signs of food guarding. He understands basic commands and is learning to wait for treats. However, he has displayed some escape artist tendencies, so a secure environment will be essential in his new home. Frankie travels well in the car, though he can find unfamiliar places intimidating.
