This 2.5-year-old, 70-pound neutered male American Staffordshire Terrier/Pit Bull mix is currently in a foster home in Austin, Texas, and is available for transport once an approved adopter is in place. Frankie's journey started in a difficult situation. He and his sister, Precious, were found tied up in the front yard of an elderly man's home after being abandoned. Fortunately, his foster home has begun to show Frankie that the world can be kind and that humans deserve his trust. Initially shy, Frankie opens up to reveal a sweet, affectionate nature. He thrives in the company of other dogs, gradually gaining confidence while engaging in playful activities like tug-of-war. His interactions are calm; when unsure, he prefers to retreat rather than react aggressively. New humans make him nervous, so a patient and understanding home is essential. Although Frankie hasn't interacted with children or cats, given his gentle demeanor, older kids who respect his boundaries could be a good fit. He has shown great progress in house training, having no accidents since entering his foster care. He doesn't need a crate and manages well when left alone, patiently waiting for his foster to return. While he’s still getting accustomed to leashes and new environments, a securely fenced yard would provide him the safety he needs. Frankie enjoys peaceful mealtimes and has no food guarding issues. His curiosity can lead him to try to escape, so potential adopters must ensure secure fencing.
