About Vixen

Vixen is a gentle, sweet boy learning to navigate a world that can feel daunting. After being surrendered in Texas along with his brother due to their owner's lack of time, it became clear that Vixen hadn’t had the socialization typical for a young dog. To help him, we brought him to Iowa, where our dedicated staff, volunteers, and foster network can offer him the patience and encouragement he needs. Sometimes, all an animal needs is the time that was lacking in their early life. This shy pup can be nervous and tends to be flighty but has shown sweet intelligence and calmness when he feels secure. Although the shelter can be overwhelming for him, we expect to see more of his personality as he becomes comfortable with his surroundings. Vixen gets along well with other dogs and has interacted positively with children aged 13 and up. He is crate-trained and maintains a clean kennel, which speaks to his good manners. Vixen would thrive in a quiet home with an experienced owner who understands that building confidence takes time. A predictable routine filled with positive reinforcement will be crucial for him to continue to blossom. With a little love and patience, Vixen can overcome his past and learn how wonderful life can be with the right person.
