About Maverick

Meet Maverick, a handsome Labrador mix with a heartwarming story of survival and resilience. His journey began under tragic circumstances when he and his sister Charlie were abandoned at just three months old, left to fend for themselves in an orchard along Tallahachie Road. Together, they faced dangers from cars and predators while learning to fear the very humans who should have protected them. Thankfully, compassionate neighbors stepped in to provide food and worked with Wilton Animal Rescue to bring them to safety. On December 31, 2025, Maverick's life took a turn for the better as he was finally rescued. After spending much of his early life without human contact, he needed time to learn that trust can be found again. Since arriving at Wilton Animal Rescue, Maverick has started to blossom from a scared puppy into a dog discovering the joys of safety and gentle human kindness. Maverick is seeking a foster home where a patient and caring family can help him continue his journey. He needs guidance in socialization, basic obedience, and house training. Understanding that progress takes time is essential, and even the smallest victories deserve celebration. A calm and loving environment will significantly impact his confidence and trust. Now, Maverick is ready to know what it feels like to be safe, loved, and secure.
