About Mando

Mando is an energetic one-year-old, 24-lb basset/heeler mix who was found as a stray in New Mexico. This sweet boy is friendly with humans and other dogs, but he’s still working on his manners and can be a bit mouthy. Because of this behavior, he’d thrive in a home without children under 12. Mando would do best as the only dog or with an older dog who can guide him. He has made strides with house training, but he may still have accidents if his humans miss his subtle cues or when he's too excited. A secure, fenced yard is important for him, as he needs that space to roam safely. He’s also in the process of mastering leash walking, sometimes needing a little encouragement to keep going. It’s ideal for Mando to have someone at home most of the time so he can continue learning about appropriate chewing habits. When his humans are around, he mostly sticks to his toys and responds well to redirection. He enjoys a good night’s sleep on his doggy bed or the couch. If you’re interested in meeting Mando, the adoption process begins with a meet and greet application. This lovable guy is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative.
