About Vixen
Vixen is a gentle, sweet young boy, just 10 months old, who is still learning that the world can be a safe and welcoming place. He and his brother were surrendered in Texas when their owner could no longer care for them. It became clear that Vixen hadn’t experienced much socialization or the adventures a young dog should. Instead of letting this shy boy fall through the cracks, we brought Vixen to Iowa where our staff, volunteers, and foster network could provide the support he needs. Sometimes, dogs like Vixen don't require fixing—they just need someone willing to invest time into their growth. Naturally reserved, he can find the shelter environment overwhelming. He might seem skittish at first and needs time to warm up to new people and situations. Yet beneath that shyness lies intelligence, sweetness, and calmness. As he becomes more comfortable, his personality will surely shine brighter. Vixen does well with other dogs and has been great with children aged 13 and up. He is crate trained and maintains a clean kennel. Having canine companions may help him adjust, while a predictable routine is essential in helping him feel safe. This young boy needs a patient, experienced owner who understands that building confidence takes time. A calm home environment, structured routines, and positive reinforcement will help him flourish. Vixen’s journey started without much socialization, but he has so much potential. He traveled from Texas to Iowa because he deserves a chance at a better life. Now, we seek the right person to continue that journey and show Vixen just how beautiful life can be.
