About Liberty

Meet Liberty! This resilient girl arrived at a high-kill shelter in Houston with her newborn puppies, facing the euthanasia list six times. Luckily, a foster stepped in just in time, allowing Liberty to raise her pups safely. Now that they’ve found their forever homes, it’s her turn to shine. At about two years old and weighing 40 pounds, Liberty is a delightful mix of Australian Cattle Dog and Carolina Dog with a medium energy level. She enjoys walks, playful moments, and those occasional zoomies, yet knows how to relax and enjoy your company too. Liberty isn’t the type to demand your attention but will snuggle up close and patiently wait for some affection, valuing your presence. Potty trained and currently learning kennel skills, Liberty adjusts well to new routines. She is dog-friendly and has loved her canine companions during foster care, although she prefers her own space during meals or when special toys are around. Although she can get excited when seeing other dogs on a leash, her foster is working with her to stay calm and focused. Food motivates her well, aiding in her training. While dog-friendly, Liberty would thrive best in a cat-free home. She enjoys car rides, though she can be prone to car sickness on longer trips. What stands out about Liberty is her balanced personality—she’s playful yet calm, independent without being distant, and affectionate without being clingy. At just two years old, she’s eager to learn and explore all the new experiences waiting for her. Liberty is ready for a new best friend to join her in life’s adventures. Liberty is in Houston, TX, but she can be adopted nationwide. Her adoption fee of $600 includes transportation to her forever home. Although she is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease, she will be ready to transport in early October. Click apply to start the adoption process.
