Meet Bruce! Bruce is a charming senior who joined City of Elderly Love after being surrendered to Philadelphia's animal control shelter at 14 years old due to medical concerns. Since arriving at the rescue, he has had a benign head lump removed and underwent dental work to remove 13 teeth. Now healthy and ready for a forever home, Bruce possesses the special character of an old soul. Grumpy at times but a total softie at heart, he loves to be near his human, whether that’s snoozing in a home office or cuddling on the couch. He walks beautifully on a leash with the cutest little waddle and bounces eagerly at meal times. This little guy has a great appetite and takes his daily anxiety medication like a champ. Bruce may be sprightly for his age, navigating stairs and even jumping off beds and couches, yet he appreciates a helping hand when he feels stiff. Currently living with larger dogs, Bruce prefers calm canines who respect his space. He enjoys their company but likes interactions on his own terms. While he hasn’t been tested with cats, he shows no prey drive and could adapt well in the right environment. Older children who understand when to give him a break would be the best fit for Bruce. Bruce is searching for a routine-oriented home that can provide him with structure to continue building his confidence.
