About Appa

Meet Appa! This young male is a large Belgian Shepherd/Maliniois mix with a goofy personality. He loves to be the center of attention and will easily crawl into your lap for some pets. Playtime is his favorite, especially when it involves tennis balls and tug-of-war, so he needs regular walks and active engagement to keep him happy. While Appa may seem a bit reserved at the shelter, he is likely to flourish in a loving home setting after some time to relax. He enjoys car rides and is quite patient during them. However, he prefers an adults-only household as young children might overwhelm him. Appa can be a little awkward around unfamiliar dogs, so it’s best to introduce him slowly to new canine friends. A dog intro is required to ensure they get along well. His unique ridge of fur along his back adds to his charm. He's neutered, vaccinated, and ready to find his forever home! Schedule a meet-and-greet by emailing petbehavior@arl-iowa.org to get to know this wonderful pup more. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and let's get started.
