Although Nova has lost a leg due to an accident, her gentle spirit remains intact as she navigates life in Troy, MI. While she is friendly with dogs and cats, she prefers a quieter environment.

Meet Nova. This beautiful brindle girl embodies resilience. Once a stray at a Detroit firehouse, she navigated life on the streets for months, keeping her distance from everyone. Despite showing incredible caution, it was soon evident that Nova was in pain, limping due to an injury she had sustained after being hit by a car. In an effort to rescue her, she was lured into a live trap. Unfortunately, her physical struggles continued; she underwent an amputation to alleviate the pain caused by her injury and now also deals with arthritis in her hips. But amid these challenges, Nova’s sweet nature shines through. Today, this tripod dog is learning that life can be gentle. At first, she may be shy, but with a few treats and some patience, she reveals a loving side. Nova thrives in the company of other dogs, so a home with canine companions is essential to her comfort. Weighing in at 50–55 lbs, she is dog-friendly and even gets along well with cats, although she’s not suited for homes with children. House trained and crate trained, Nova enjoys her beauty rest, often sleeping on her back. Yet, don't mistake her for laid-back; she loves to play and wrestle with fellow dogs, bringing the life of the party to her canine pals. Nova seeks a quiet home where she can continue to heal. She needs someone who understands her journey and is willing to let her take her time. With the right love and attention, she will flourish in a safe environment.
