Meet Koda, an American Bully mix who is back in our care, and we’re deeply concerned about how the shelter environment is affecting him. Koda is about 2 years old and has faced an incredibly tough journey, having been adopted and returned too many times. Each time he begins to trust and feel at home, he finds himself back in a kennel, feeling overwhelmed and heartbroken. This young male is experiencing severe separation anxiety. Being in a shelter only amplifies his fear, and we worry about the lengths he might go to escape this distressing situation. Despite his challenges, Koda has a loving spirit. He craves human companionship and affection, wanting nothing more than to feel safe with someone who understands him. He does well with other dogs but cannot be around cats. Koda needs a dedicated adopter who can be home frequently or is patient enough to help him through his anxiety. He deserves to decompress and gradually learn that his new person will always return. He is house trained and has been altered, but he requires someone who can look beyond his fear and see the loving dog that he truly is.
