About Rufus
Meet Rufus! This 1 to 2-year-old, 17 lb. Chihuahua/Pomeranian/Dachshund mix has a silky, medium-length coat and an incredibly sweet personality. He came to the Imperial Valley Animal Shelter with two other dogs, but no one came to reclaim him, turning their loss into someone else’s gain. Rufus is mellow, friendly, and loves being part of the family, whether that means playing with the cat in his foster home or curling up on the couch with you. He walks well on a leash and enjoys outings but is happiest when included in everyday activities. While Rufus is fairly house-trained, he’s still learning to signal when he needs to go outside. He sleeps well at night, ideally snuggling in bed with you or settling into his own dog bed. He is not fond of the crate, so it's best he has another dog around when his family is away. His foster is currently addressing a habit of chewing on socks and fabric, so potential adopters will need to keep these items out of reach. Rufus is eager to learn and responds well to training.
