Mia’s journey started in a high-kill shelter in Texas, where she actually gave birth to her puppies. Thankfully, we were able to scoop her up and bring her safely here to Virginia! She will be officially ready for her forever home on October 4th. Because she just finished nursing, her spay surgery will be in November to give her body time to fully recover. The surgery is completely covered by her adoption fee, but her adopter will just need to handle driving her to and from one of our approved rescue vets. Mia is around 3 to 4 years old, weighs a petite 12 lbs, and is incredibly chill for a Chihuahua. She is outgoing, a fantastic listener, and even lets her foster mom trim her nails without a single fuss. She is also kid, dog, and cat friendly, and she seems to be fully house-trained! She is smart and very food motivated. She knows how to sit and shake! Mia has been an amazing mom, though she's honestly pretty relieved to be wrapping up her motherly duties. She also likes to play the "fun police" when other dogs get too rough, stepping in to tell them to settle down. There are higher fees associated as we have to pay to have the animals transported. We are a non-profit rescue. Any access revenue made is used to care for animals with additional medical expenditures that would otherwise result in adoptable dogs having to be left behind and euthanized. The adoption fee for this dog is $600 which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter. You will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will need proof of sterilization from the vet in order to receive the $100.
