About Zoey

Meet Zoey! This lovely Akita faced a tough past. Once bought for breeding, she found herself abandoned in a high-kill shelter when she refused to go along with her owners' plans. Thankfully, our rescue stepped in to give her a second chance after nobody else would. Zoey arrived at the shelter angry and unsocialized, bearing the scars of neglect and abuse. But with patience and care, she has learned about love and trust during her time with us. Zoey is looking for a home where she can be the only dog. She does not get along with other dogs, and she’s also not suitable for households with cats or children under 12. This girl warms up more to women than men and tends to be cautious around new people. She's shown some fear aggression, particularly around power tools, likely a response to her past traumas. Zoey deserves a chance to flourish in a loving home where she can truly shine as the queen she knows she is. Are you the one to give her that? Adoption fee: $450, which includes transport to the Midwest, Northeast, or Southeast. Click apply to start the adoption process.
