Her genetic background is a mystery, but she resembles a blend of a Black and Tan Coonhound and a Treeing Walker Coonhound. Despite her petite frame, she’s packed with energy! Originating from Bath County, Virginia, Maple arrived at her foster home after a local shelter sought assistance in finding her a loving forever home. Her name pays homage to the maple trees native to the area, which is noted for having the southernmost commercial maple syrup industry in the United States. Maple is friendly, affectionate, and curious, eagerly seeking love from everyone she meets. With her youthful spirit, she’s always ready for an adventure. She enjoys running, playing, and has a playful nature with the other dogs in her foster home, especially the two energetic 8-month-old hound puppies she has bonded with. Maple would thrive in an active household that enjoys outdoor activities. She’s made remarkable progress with her training — she’s crate trained, progressing well with house training, and walks nicely on a leash with minimal pulling. While she hasn’t met any cats yet, her engaging personality makes her a delightful companion.
