Spike, a charming Pit Bull Terrier mix, is ready to find his forever home after a long journey that included a stay at Penfield Animal Control. This senior boy is deaf but has some hearing for high-pitched sounds. He does have some age-related growths that our vet feels are not concerning. Spike is healthy and actively working to shed some extra weight in his loving foster home, where he lives with both canine and feline siblings. His foster mom describes him as a delight, not only to her but also to her daughter and three grandchildren. Spike gets along well with everyone, but he can be a bit skittish when meeting new people or animals. With a little patience and understanding, he warms up quickly. Outside, Spike adores rolling in the grass and napping in the sunshine. He’s great about letting his foster mom know when he needs to go out — especially early in the morning. While inside, he prefers cozy blankets over toys, using them for comfort and warmth. Spike hasn’t used a crate; he finds open spaces with his loved ones much more appealing. He needs a home that prioritizes patience, understanding, and reassurance, ensuring he feels safe and loved. His adoption fee is $200, which covers his neutering, microchip, vaccines, flea and heartworm prevention, and deworming.
