About Captain Jack
Click apply to start the adoption process. Meet Captain Jack, a loving 4-year-old Black Lab and Pittie mix with an affectionate personality and plenty of enthusiasm. Weighing a healthy 65 lbs, he comes vaccinated through September 2025, is fixed, microchipped, and sports a sleek, short black and white coat. He benefits from regular ear cleanings to keep him healthy, and while it's not his favorite activity, he's patient enough for you to help him avoid breed-prone ear infections. Captain Jack is fully house trained and does well baby-gated to the kitchen, rather than crated, due to his high energy levels. He's comfortable with children and has a special bond with kids, although he sometimes forgets his own size and can be a bit enthusiastic. Captain knows a variety of commands like "sit," "down," "wait," and more, and he responds well to direction, especially as he matures. He loves head rubs and attention, and will lean into you for all the affection he can get! Heavy-duty chew toys are a must, as heβs a determined chewer! He enjoys walks, exploring, and is not much of a barker at home, though he may get vocal with other dogs on walks. Captain Jack is friendly with dogs his own size and does best with proper introductions, showing promise to integrate well with canine companions given some additional training. Ideally, Captain Jack is looking for a house with a yard, though a dedicated family in an apartment setting could also make it work with plenty of walks. Captain Jack is being fostered as a courtesy posting in Rochester, NY, and applying will connect you directly to his family. They are searching for a loving home that will keep him healthy, happy, and thriving. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
