Meet Buttons. Buttons is a charming 4-year-old, 10-pound long-haired Dachshund with a strong personality, particularly when it comes to his preferences—like velvet furniture, which he's never even seen. He’s a bit underweight but is determined to correct that, treating meals with the seriousness of a tax attorney yet maintaining a hopeful attitude. This little guy forms deep bonds with his humans and loves receiving belly rubs, kisses, and snuggling. He’d happily accept a lifetime appointment on your lap. Buttons does get anxious when left alone, particularly with new sounds, so he would benefit from a home where someone is often around, whether you work from home or are retired. He's shown promise getting along well with another small dog. An ideal home would be one with older kids or adults where he can feel secure. He can be protective of his belongings, which are quite significant in his tiny world. Recently, he's been under the careful watch of a veterinary team due to an enlarged heart. He's currently on medication and doing well with ongoing monitoring, so while his health is a focus, it's just one small part of his overall happy demeanor. Buttons is making great strides with house training though he might still mark occasionally. Tooth brushing is his only ongoing dispute with humanity, something he views as unnecessary. He's not searching for perfection, just someone who understands that the best relationships take time, marked by quiet evenings and small victories.
