Leelah is a 4-year-old female black Lab mix, ready to find a loving new home. Previously living in Ohio, she is looking for a patient family where she can settle in and form strong bonds. Currently residing in Bethel Park, PA, she gets along well with her active foster brother and enjoys the company of other dogs, though she’s still learning to play. Leelah has been around cats and is perfectly fine with them. Initially timid, she warms up to people, including children aged 8 and up, as long as they respect her space. Once she feels safe, Leelah is affectionate and loves to be close to her trusted humans. Though she has toys, she is more of a calm companion than a playful one. Smart and able to follow commands, she benefits from a patient approach to training. Leelah enjoys walks but has some leash skills to improve. She is a strong puller and somewhat reactive, but with guidance, she will adapt well to outings in parks or hikes. House trained and generally a good companion, Leelah is not disruptive. She is still learning about crate training, as she was not exposed to it previously. After facing significant changes recently, Leelah has adjusted well with her foster family. She seeks a forever home where she can continue to settle and thrive. Ideally, her new family should be home more often, as Leelah prefers companionship.
