Meet Dougie! This handsome young male is about 1 to 2 years old and weighs just under 40 pounds. He's likely a Lab and Cattle Dog mix, with a stunning white and cream coat, accented by chocolate brown. When he first came into rescue after being found abandoned on a farm, Dougie seemed quite subdued. However, he has since blossomed into a confident, social, and playful character, full of energy and sometimes a bit intense. Dougie needs an active, dog-savvy adopter who can provide him with structure, ample exercise, and mental stimulation. He reacts to overstimulation and is learning how to calm himself with guidance from his foster. Though Dougie currently lives with other dogs and has also shared space with cats, he has shown some resource guarding behavior and can be persistent when dogs want a break. Therefore, any future canine companions would need to be a good personality match. With his people, he is affectionate, goofy, and eager to be involved in the family's activities. He has excellent crate training, walks well on a leash, and is getting better at understanding house manners. Due to his energetic nature and tendency to become overstimulated, Dougie will not be placed in a home with children under 12 years old.
