About Jewel D
Jewel D is a gentle soul who came into rescue after her owner passed away. This sweet, older girl has lived with six dogs of various sizes, content to be one of the smaller companions. Jewel is cautious around new people and takes her time to trust, but once she feels secure, her loving nature shines through. She thrives in a calm environment where she can lounge and snuggle rather than deal with the hustle and bustle of a busy household. Jewel would thrive best in the company of a retired person or someone who can be home often. High energy and noise can easily overwhelm her, so a quiet home without children will help her feel safe. While she can coexist with calm dogs, Jewel tends to enjoy her independence around them. Though her experience with cats is unclear, itβs likely she might adapt well to a feline companion. Jewel finds comfort in her crate, using it as her safe haven when things become too much for her. She sleeps peacefully there at night but secretly prefers to curl up next to her person. Sheβs been known to hop up onto the bed to snuggle, showcasing her surprising agility for a senior. Jewel is house trained and enjoys the convenience of a doggy door, though she has yet to learn leash manners. Vet visits can be stressful, requiring calming medication, but she has shown a preference for Freshpet soft food instead of kibble. Jewel is a quiet, sensitive girl who needs an understanding home willing to nurture her at her own pace. With time and patience, her affectionate side will blossom.
