Silas is a 3-year-old terrier currently in a foster home in San Antonio, TX. Weighing approximately 17 pounds, he's starting to come out of his shell, though he's still learning to embrace the attention he deserves. Initially quite matted, he’s been shaved down and his soft hair will grow back beautifully with just a little grooming. This little guy has potty training down and quickly learned to use the dog door. Silas enjoys cuddling but appreciates being invited for affection rather than seeking it out himself. He has a gentle nature and gets along well with other dogs, but his shyness means he interacts minimally. Given his timid personality, he’d likely thrive in a calm home environment, possibly with cats and other gentle animals. Silas has been diagnosed with heartworm infection, a treatable condition that requires a dedicated owner willing to commit to his care. Adopters will receive all necessary medications for his recovery. It's a big commitment— partners must be ready for housebreaking, enrichment and positive socialization.
