About Ellie
Meet Ellie, an adorable almost 3-month-old farm dog mix with a freckled face and a sweet, playful spirit. She came to the Heart of America Humane Society along with her littermates, Sawyer and Darla, after they were left living in a field following their owner's loss of home. While in foster care, we discovered that Ellie isn't using one of her back legs. X-rays revealed a serious fracture that can't be repaired, so she will undergo amputation. After her surgery, Ellie will need time to rest and heal, with limited activity as her incision recovers. With proper care from her foster family and the rescue, we're confident she'll bounce back and adapt beautifully to life on three legs. Ellie's medical journey doesn't hold back her search for a loving home. She is ready for adoption, and we welcome applications now! Her new family should be prepared to support her recovery while enjoying the journey of raising this resilient girl into a happy, confident dog. All dogs at Heart of America Humane Society are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. The adoption fee is $250. Click apply to start the adoption process.
