About Basalt
Basalt, born on January 16, 2022, is a delightful mix of intelligence and playfulness. At about 50 lbs, she's a spayed female Labrador mix with striking jet-black fur accented by a unique white marking on her chest, reminiscent of the Bethlehem star. Currently up to date on all vaccinations, she recently completed heartworm treatment and is looking forward to her final exam in August 2025. In her time with me and my playful Rat Terrier, Daisy, Basalt has quickly adapted to home life. She loves belly rubs, enjoys treats, and delights in tossing toys around, especially when it comes to extracting the stuffing from them. She's calm indoors, often found lounging with her head resting on my legs or getting cozy next to me on the sofa. Her affectionate nature shines through when she leans in for cuddles or just to be close. She's been exposed to various adults and even a teenager, acting friendly and non-aggressive. While Basalt prefers the comfort of indoors, she enjoys outdoor adventures, whether it’s chasing squirrels and birds or simply sunbathing. Although she has some separation anxiety and benefits from training pads when left alone, she consistently displays good behavior and quickly learns commands. Her car rides are charming; she jumps in excitedly, remaining calm during the journey.
