About Smokey
Meet Smokey! Smokey is one of three brothers, alongside Sheriff and Bandit, who recently joined the Street Dog Hero family after being rescued from a rural home outside of Prineville. Thanks to a caring volunteer, these handsome boys were given a chance at a better life. Having lived with people and children before, Smokey faced a big transition into rescue. Initially frightened by all the changes, it took them some time to adjust. Now, Smokey is learning to trust again, enjoying walks with volunteers and greeting new people with happy licks. He thrives when around other dogs and seeks out their confidence for support. Future families should know that Smokey may need a bit of time to fully come out of his shell. Patience is key. Finding someone who understands that building trust takes time will benefit Smokey greatly. Experience with German Shepherds or Rottweilers—or similar breeds—will be a plus. A friendly canine buddy could help him gain the confidence he needs. This journey is just beginning, and Smokey’s potential awaits with the right family.
